World Money Laundering Report archive now available in Kindle Library
London and Hong Kong 15 December 2011
Vortex Centrum Limited, the UK-based publishing arm of The Anti Money Laundering Network has today authorised Amazon.Com to release the currently available archive of World Money Laundering Report through its Kindle Owners' Lending Library service.
Vortex Centrum is in the process of converting the entire WMLR archive to Kindle format. Several volumes are already available.
The service is targeted at USA customers of Amazon Prime, a premium membership scheme for Amazon.Com customers.
US based Amazon Prime members who own a Kindle can borrow a copy of one issue World Money Laundering Report per month, free of additional charges. Amazon.Com has created a fund that will pay copyright holders lending rights fees.
However, the Kindle Owners' Lending Library is not available to Kindle owners outside the USA nor to users of any other reader or device. Although Amazon has not explained this to publisher, it is understood that the restriction is for technical reasons: Amazon.Com's Whispernet technology operates only in the USA.
The Kindle Owners' Library Service allows borrowers to check out a single title for as long as they want, but they can only check out one title simultaneously.
For more information, see www.amazon.com
It's not the only way that readers can "borrow" a book. Again, for users of the Kindle device, the Kindle Book Lending feature allows a person who has purchased the book to lend it to another Kindle owner for up to 14 days, and to lend it only once. However, this service is also restricted : according to Amazon.Com "Lending is not available for Kindle books purchased on Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.fr and Amazon.de."
"How not to be a Money Launderer" is also available, to US Kindle owners, under both of the above schemes.
Finally, even though the book can be "borrowed," it is still available for purchase. In the case of WMLR, this is exclusively for Kindle and in the case of "How not to be a money launderer" it is available both for Kindle and
